The Dog Inn at Wingham

The Dog Inn at Wingham has enjoyed a somewhat meteoric rise in profile since Richard & Sherry acquired the Inn back in the July of 2004, helping to make Wingham a fashionable place to visit.

It’s reputation as one of East Kent’s finest eateries or “Gastropubs” has attracted the attentions of a curious media, with critical acclaim abundant. With it’s kitchens under the highly skilled stewardship of Steve Hogben-Lambert (Head Chef) the food and drink media have shown a particular interest. Recent features in the Caterer and Hotelkeeper, Eat Out Magazine and The Licensee, bear testimony to the high regard with which the restaurant is held within it’s own industry. No doubt tipped-off, Fiona Simms, food and wine writer to The Sunday Times recently visited the restaurant with her notepad-watch this space.

Unsolicited features have also been written in consumer press with The Kentish Gazette, Faversham News, Canterbury Adscene, KMFM radio and TLR Radio all bringing news of The Dog Inn’s progress to their audiences. A recent surprise visit from Bob Hoskins, the Hollywood actor, in a break from filming on the Kent coast drew massive attention to Wingham’s now famous Inn. Indeed, it’s not uncommon to bump into a familiar face in the dining room at The Dog Inn as many from the world of sport and TV seem to hooked on Richard & Sherry’s professional brand of Kentish hospitality.

The restaurant at The Dog Inn has also been featured in Egon Ronay’s recently published guide to “The Uk’s best restaurants and Gastropubs” and in “The Daily Telegraph’s Gastropub guide”

Weddings and Civil Ceremonies
The granting of a license to hold civil weddings has already resulted in over 50 marriages at the Inn since the Martin’s arrived including one of Kent’s first same sex marriage ceremonies in Spring 2006.
